Age of wonders iii6/28/2023 ![]() All costs are paid from an empire-wide pool instead of being based on an individual city's production, so there's very little that differentiates one city from another, except for their racial inhabitants, which are locked in once a city is built/conquered. Rather than make challenging calls about what to build, blindly building everything always seemed like the best choice. But a crucial part of creating interesting choices is that something has to be sacrificed in order to choose a different path, but here every building takes a maximum of four turns to build (and usually one or two), which makes almost everything too easily accessible. Age Of Wonders III is filled with decision points: a map filled with resources to gather and dungeons to explore, spells and abilities to research, different buildings and units to produce in cities. Unfortunately, far too many battles are mismatches, because the strategic layer just isn't up to the standards of the tactical battles. And, of course, if a battle is too much of a mismatch, it can be skipped to save time. Play Battles are surprisingly fast to play, especially given that they're turn-based, and they stay interesting whether it's a confrontation between a hero and a powerful demon, or a massive siege with multiple armies in the mix, wizards throwing fireballs and trebuchets destroying walls. For instance, each race has a cheap ranged unit, but where the Elven longbowmen are more expensive and deadly, the Goblins may have “swarm darts” who are weaker but have poisoned missiles that do much more damage to unarmored, living enemies. While there are a few troop types like pikemen copied between races, even simple units can have major differences. One of the chief joys of the tactical battles is that each unit can feel quite different. Developer Triumph Studios has also done a marvelous job of making its turn-based clashes between little Goblins and giant Dragons play fast and smart. And the music, much of it remixed from previous games in the series, remains a highlight. Warg-riding Goblins and Elvish Crusaders all look and play differently, adding personality and depth. Like previous games in the series, Age of Wonders embraces the very best of its familiar fantasy setting, crafting its units and its world with affection and detail. Hero customization is especially strong the ability to set character posture has great effects on the personality they exude. The latter two modes feature an additional game play mode of simultaneous turns for a fast game pace.Play AoW3’s form is conventional: pick a hero from a fantasy race like Dwarves, Orcs, or the lizard-like Draconians, expand across a Civilization-like map, explore dungeons, and conquer rival heroes. Play multi-player games against your friends through hotseat play, play-by-email, over LAN or the Internet.

80 days north pole6/28/2023 ![]() Ann is asked to appear in the media to talk about this amazing feat today. You can drive down streets like Santa Claus Lane, Kris Kringle Drive, and Mistletoe Lane, or stay the night in the Santa Suite at Hotel North Pole. Their success was covered in newspapers, t.v. This incredible journey involves skiing the final ten days of the trek to the South Pole, using sleds to haul our provisions. Only a 15-minute drive south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway, North Pole features holiday decorations and trimmingseven if it’s 80 degrees in July. ![]() Against all odds they had become the first all women’s team in the world to ski to both poles. Both fell into the ocean and had to swim across open expanses of water but their determination to succeed prevailed and on 1st June 2002 Ann and Caroline stepped onto the pole, planted the union jack and proudly sang the National Anthem. Although the pole looked impossible neither were willing to give up and skied for over 15 hours each day, with little sleep in between. After 47 hazard filled days Pom Oliver had to leave the expedition as a result of frostbite and wet gangrene, leaving Ann and Caroline over 300 miles to cover in 30 days. They suffered from severe frostbite, back problems and carbon monoxide poisoning from contaminated fuel. On day 37 they had completed just 69 miles of the 500 mile journey. The team of three girls were hit by storms so severe that they were unable to put their tent up and had to huddle under tent material for 3 days, with little food or water. Temperatures as low as –50✬ for the first 26 days severely hampered the expedition’s progress and success looked doubtful. They encountered huge ridges, at times 30 to 40 feet in height, thin ice, open water, rubble fields and of course the constant threat of a polar bear encounter.Īs they set off from Ward Hunt Island their sledges weighed almost 300 lb and the terrain was filled with constant pressure ridges and rubble fields. Not least the extreme temperatures in a marine environment but the very ice they skied across moved and changed constantly as the enormous power of the arctic currents and wind drove the ice together and at other times cracked it wide open. They spent over a year planning and training for the arduous and extreme challenge.Ī journey across the Arctic Ocean is fraught with difficulties. She asked Caroline Hamilton and Pom Oliver to join her and they put together the M&G North Pole 2002 Expedition. No women’s team had ever skied continually from land to the North geographic pole and Ann was determined she would be the first. Lyrics acapulco gold rainy daze6/27/2023 ![]() "We used to make up different stories all the time just for fun!" ![]() "It's one of those things I've never asked Mark," says Bunnell. The oft-repeated explanation of how they became the Strawberry Alarm Clock begins with Weitz turning to the Billboard Hot 100, closing his eyes and putting his finger down on the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever." Which may or may not be true. But with the signing came the realization that other groups were working under variations of Thee Sixpence, so finding a new name became a priority. On the strength of the song's local success, the band was quickly signed to Uni Records, a then-new subsidiary of MCA. "He played 'Incense and Peppermints' like it was the biggest hit in the country!" enthuses Bunnell of the Santa Barbara DJ. And thanks in large part to KIST music director Johnny Fairchild who flipped the single over, they soon found themselves with a regional #1 record. In April 1967, "The Birdman of Alkatrash" b/w "Incense and Peppermints" by Thee Sixpence was issued locally on All-American (there are rumors of an early pressing where Peppermints is misspelled). This was the moment that Carter mentioned an idea he had for a song title: "Incense and Peppermints." In the meantime, their producer, Frank Slay, contacted John Carter (co-writer of the minor hit "That Acapulco Gold" for psych group the Rainy Daze) to ask if he was working on anything new. Without giving it much thought, they also laid down a bouncy untitled instrumental written by Weitz and King for the B-side. This time, t he plan was to record "The Birdman of Alkatrash" - a garage-punk nugget written and sung by their new keyboardist Mark Weitz - as the A-side of their next 45. Their manager, Bill Holmes, also owned All-American Records, the small-time label for which the band recorded.īy the time they went into Original Sound studios in early 1967, Thee Sixpence had already issued several singles, including covers of "Fortune Teller" and "Hey Joe," without garnering much attention. ![]() The members of the group initially included vocalist Michael Luciano, guitarist Ed King, vocalist/guitarist Lee Freeman, guitarist Steve Rabe, bassist Gary Lovetro, and drummer Gene Gunnels. In the mid-sixties, the suburban Southern California music scene revolved around teenagers, and Thee Sixpence - a talented British Invasion/garage/surf cover band - ruled the teen clubs and pizza joints from Glendale to Santa Barbara. This is an opportunity to learn about how the company does product management, and may even include a trip to learn about the tech industry in various markets! Why APMĪ hallmark of many APM programs is the training the company provides. As you can imagine, APM roles are very competitive (arguably even more competitive than experienced product manager roles). Many thousands of applicants apply each year. Since then, other companies have adopted their own APM programs similar to Google's. Google chairman Eric Schmidt has even expressed his opinion that one of Google's APM alumni will be CEO of the company one day. ![]() Other notable alumni include Bret Taylor, co-creator of Google Maps, and Justin Rosenstein, who founded Asana. What is APMĪssociate product manager roles provide new grads and early-career professionals the chance to break into product management. This guide will provide an explanation of the APM role and an overview of some of the most popular APM programs. Thus, companies have developed entry-level product management roles, known commonly as Associate Product Management (APM) roles. This challenge is especially augmented for those just graduating from college with minimal exposure to product management. Product Management is notoriously difficult to get into. Get over your fear of heights6/27/2023 ![]() To overcome the fear of heights or acrophobia, keep reading this article on VKool site on the line of lifestyle on how to get rid of fear of heights fast and instantly. This phobia is also described as the spinning sensation. ![]() The fear of heights can get dangerous if the sufferer has occasional panic attacks and it’s not easy to get rid of this condition. This is a type of irrational apprehension, you can experience when standing at a height. It also works by teaching new coping skills or creating new neural connections in the brain so a person can behave differently in certain situations.Scientifically, fear of height is a common name of Acrophobia. It has been shown that hypnosis helps the brain change its perspective on the situation. It’s achieved by inducing a hypnotic state, and you will be able to relax and feel more confident about yourself. Hypnotherapy has been extremely helpful to thousands of people looking to overcome the whole gamut of fears and phobias. We unplug the conscious triggers from your subconscious mind so that they do not hold you back any longer. Many of these experiences can be unwantedly stored in your subconscious mind, only to come to the surface when the trigger presents itself. The only explanation for that is that between childhood, and later in life, our brain and memory are filled with experiences, good and bad. You may see children on roller coasters or on skyscraper rooftops, and they may appear to be actually enjoying themselves, or even exuberant over the experience. It’s a very good question to ask yourself, as to why that is. What’s very interesting is that children generally do not usually exhibit a fear of heights. It was originally used by physicians from different civilizations, but it was only in the nineteenth century that hypnotism was recognized by mainstream Western medicine. Hypnosis has been used for centuries as a healing technique. These thoughts and feelings may be currently stored in the subconscious mind, When someone is hypnotized during Hypnotherapy sessions, they enter into a trance-like state and can be given suggestions on how to change their thoughts and feelings. Hypnosis is a powerful way to help people who are struggling with issues seemingly out of their control. A person’s fear can profoundly affect their lives, as it can limit where they can go and what they can do. They may refuse to climb a ladder, board a plane, or walk across a bridge. People who suffer from acrophobia avoid situations where they will be high up. However, the fear can manifest itself in situations where there are no physical threats present. The feelings that trigger these fears can possibly be traced back to a childhood event or an incident in adulthood that triggered the fear. As mentioned in last month’s article, fear causes the body to release more adrenaline into the bloodstream. Fear can also be triggered by balconies, escalators, bridges, and tall buildings. As previously mentioned, the feeling often manifests itself in people’s daily lives by causing panic attacks or a general state of anxiety when they are confronted with an object or location that triggers the feelings. It is normal to have it but it can also be debilitating when the feelings trigger stress and anxiety.įear of heights is a fairly common phobia that affects approximately 12% of the adult population. It is a feeling response to the sensation of height. ![]() How to Overcome a Fear of Heights with Hypnotherapyįear of heights (Acrophobia) is a natural survival instinct. Xwave south portland maine6/27/2023 ![]() Dozens of additional stores, restaurants and hotels near the Maine Mall have been built ever since. The Maine Mall, the state’s largest, is near the Maine Turnpike. When many people think of South Portland, they think of shopping, and with good reason. One of the Portland region’s top professional theater companies, Mad Horse, and two of its longest-running community theaters, Portland Players and the Lyric Music Theater, have their stages in South Portland. If you’re looking for some local entertainment, try the theater. The Shoreway continues on to Willard Beach, a small but popular public beach. You can visit this light, at least in good weather, by hiking out the granite breakwater that connects the light to the mainland. ![]() Spring Point Shoreway, a mile-long stroll along the water, will take you through the Southern Maine Community College campus, into historic Fort Preble and by another harbor lighthouse, Spring Point Ledge Light. Bug Light, officially, Portland Breakwater Light, is right off the park and still guides ships into Portland Harbor. The shipyard is gone now, but a memorial remains in the grassy park for the workers and Liberty ship sailors. During World War II, the park was the site of a massive shipyard with 30,000 workers who, almost amazingly, turned out 244 Liberty ships, built for hauling cargo to Europe, by war’s end. ![]() Things to Do in South Portlandīug Light Park, named for the diminutive lighthouse guarding it, is a great place the start your search. To get to know it, it’s best to start on the water. Seems to be mostly business professionals at the moment.South Portland, across the harbor from Portland, was built on fishing, shipping and shipbuilding. I stayed also as a semi-getaway alone, taking advantage of the last minute change in work plans. I had no problems with the wifi for work, including video conferences. I stayed here solo, after a work conference was canceled last minute. It's on the softer side, so be aware if you like a firm mattress. The good things were the food (although the wait time to order to go to bring to my room was crazy, almost an hour, and no room service), the outdoor space was nice, and the bed is extremely comfortable. Only had decaf coffee available for the in-room coffee. Dust everywhere, and what I assume is candy behind the headboard, but I'm not about to touch it. The TV wouldn't connect to the internet, so no streaming like they advertised (and part of the reason why I picked here instead of the holiday inn express across the street) and the TV guide wouldn't update so I had to scroll channel by channel to find put what was on. It didn't drain and the water never got warm. The bathroom shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned, with mold im the grout. For this price you could find something near the water or in downtown Portland with the shops and restaurants. It's across the street from the Maine Mall in South Portland, so location is only good if you're going to the mall. But for the high price tag of this hotel, I would not stay here again. I rarely leave reviews, working in customer service myself I know most reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt.
Deezer premium6/27/2023 ![]() Using Sony's object-based spatial audio technology, the 28 track playlist aims to provide a "unique immersive experience in which all audio elements – including vocals, individual instruments and audience – can be heard as if they are in different positions inside a 360 spherical space". The music streaming service now offers HiFi subscribers a series of '360 Sessions' – live performances reformatted in Sony 360 Reality Audio. You will need to download the 360 by Deezer app if you want to listen to them all, but this gives access to all of the non-360 tracks of the standard app, so you don't have to constantly switch between the two. ![]() Back to Deezer, the tracks available in the format are included as part of its HiFi subscription. It once looked likely that Deezer would add hi-res streaming to its repertoire, but the company has since decided to go down the 360 Reality Audio route, a sort of Dolby Atmos rival, but specifically for streamed music.ĭeezer was the first music streaming service to offer 360 Reality Audio, but it has since been joined by Tidal, Amazon Music HD and (a streaming service dedicated to live concerts). In fact, Deezer now comes pre-loaded in devices such as Mobee-K's smart USB-C headphones while Apple's own HomePod and HomePod Mini support Deezer voice control, and Deezer tracks can be downloaded to enjoy offline on your Apple Watch, too. These tracks are available to those who subscribe to the £14.99 ($14.99, AU$17.99) per-month HiFi tier – which used to cost £19.99 until a little while ago – and although you initially needed to own one of a handful of specific devices in addition to enjoy it, they can now be heard on almost any device that supports the core Deezer experience. While testing this with a playlist that contained 2400 tracks however only the first 900 were imported (this appears to be the maximum number of tracks in a Deezer-playlist).The company claims it is "constantly improving its audio streaming service" and recently added Tune My Music, a library importer which helps users transfer their favourite songs and playlists to Deezer from other services. When the number of tracks is more then that the tracks will get split over multiple playlists. It tends to work better with smaller playlists (<400 tracks). ![]() Spotizr Use this for importing (your) Spotify playlists. When the artist name or track title contains an ampersand (&) then Deezer will not scrobble that along with the data, so instead of "Alison Krauss & Union Station" it will scrobble as the incorrect "Alison Krauss Union Station".Compared to Rdio or Spotify it is striking how bad the search works for old releases: searching for "A Night in Tunisia" (old release by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers) will result in loads of re-released albums with the wrong artist name. There is a way of getting the Premium options for free (see the video) but I haven't tested that myself. Normally a free account gets to use the (ad-supported) site for ten hours a month, at the moment however Deezer is promoting the service by making it unlimited for the next year (2013). A list of countries can be found on Deezer's developer website. As of February 2013 the service was available in 182 countries with the noteable exception of the US. |
